1. should(not) have + p.p = regret.

    1) My stomach is painful.

        I shouldn't have drunk too much alcohol.

    2) I didn't get enough sleep last night.

        I should have drank milk.


Girl 1 : I'm broke now.

Girl 2 : why?

Girl 1 : I bought. two new Lu bags.

Girl 2 : That's so expensive.

Girl 1 : I know so I regret.

           I shouldn't have bought them.


What do you regret in life?

 1) you did the action in the past.

     Now you regret => I shouldn't have + p.p.

  2) you didn't do the action  in the past.

      I should have + p.p


I bought second hand flat shoes.

It's already torn.

I shouldn't have bought flat shoes.


I didn't have a haircut.

I should have hand a lunch.

I shouldn't have quit my company.

I didn't meet business before 

I should have met businessmen before my skin was burned.

burn - burned - burnt.


2. must have + p.p = guess, assumption.

.Her face turns red she must have gotten a flv.

.The academy is quiet.

The students must have studied.

                                       slept.

                                       gone out.

3. can not have + p.p = Not your intention / purpose.

I can not have meant my message to you.

                       mean - meant - meant.

(I was not serious about my message).

I mean to = my purpose is.

I mean to study = my purpose is to study.

Brother : I'm going to quit my job.

Sister   : What ? No, It's difficult to find a job  these days.

Brother : I'm Serious.

Sister : I hope you can not have meant What you said.


4. might + have + p.p = stronger guess.

                           am/are/is/be + was/were + been + adj

It might have been possible but something happened.

I might have passed my interview if I am not old.

: strong possibility but it didn't happen.


man : I want to meet new friends in Baguio.

woman : Sure. you can do that.

Man : Thank you for saying that but there's a problem.

woman : what is that?

man : I might have met many foreigners before but my English speaking Skill is low.

                                                                         Possible in the past but didnt' happen.

We could have had it all.

      wished in => impossible the past.

I wish I was tall.

          past

= I could have been tall.


I wish I was fair completion.

I could have been fair but my country is hot.
